Credit union offers alternative to payday lending
Monday April 21 2008
Black Hills Federal Credit Union has created a new program to help members manage their finances. “Paycheck Privilege” is offered as a short-term, line-of-credit loan up to $500, designed to help members avoid the high fees typically charged by payday lenders.
Paycheck Privilege has lower rates, saving members money in interest and finance charges. Qualification is not based on credit score, debt ratio or discretionary income.
DeeAnn Dietrich, Vice President of Consumer Loans and Member Services, said, “We want to help members who battle tight finances every month and continuously struggle to get ahead. This program helps them take control of their finances in a responsible way, and can actually help them build credit.”
